As a family, we're always searching for places that offer more than just somewhere to stay. We want adventure, quality time together and experiences that we'll still be talking about months later. That's exactly what we found during our recent weekend at Wall Eden Farm in Somerset.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful setting. Nestled alongside the River Brue and surrounded by the stunning Somerset countryside, Wall Eden Farm feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The perfect place to switch off, reconnect and make memories.
A Wonderful Stay at Otter Bank Cabin
For our weekend away, we stayed in the beautiful Otter Bank Cabin, and it couldn't have been more perfect for a family getaway.
The cabin was cosy, comfortable and beautifully positioned, allowing us to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while having all the comforts we needed. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the hot tub. After a day of activities, there was nothing better than sinking into the warm bubbling water, relaxing under the open sky and reflecting on the day's adventures.
It became our favourite way to end each evening, with plenty of laughter, conversation and that wonderful feeling of being completely relaxed.

Canoeing, Laughter and a Little Bit of Chaos
One of the highlights of our weekend was canoeing along the River Brue. The scenery was beautiful, and it gave us a chance to enjoy the peaceful surroundings from a completely different perspective.
Now, it would be fair to say that we weren't natural-born canoeists. It took us a little while to get the hang of steering and paddling in the same direction, which resulted in us finding ourselves lodged in the overgrown riverbanks on more than one occasion. Fortunately, this only added to the fun, and there was plenty of laughter as we attempted to free ourselves and get back on course.
There was also a brief moment of panic when George dropped his phone in the canoe. For a split second, everyone assumed it had gone overboard into the water, triggering a frantic search and a few worried faces. Thankfully, after a closer look, we discovered it was still safely inside the canoe. Crisis averted, and another story added to the collection of family memories from the weekend!
Family Fun with a Competitive Twist
One thing our family definitely doesn't lack is a competitive streak, and Wall Eden Farm gave us plenty of opportunities to bring it out.
The target sports were where our personalities really came alive.
At the archery range, I may have got a little carried away. After a few successful shots, I was fully embracing my inner Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. For a brief moment, I was convinced I was destined for the arena rather than a weekend in Somerset. While my family might disagree about my chances of survival, I was certainly feeling every bit the skilled archer.
Meanwhile, Brett and George discovered their inner Vikings during the axe-throwing session. The satisfaction on their faces every time an axe stuck firmly into the target was priceless. Before long, they were fully immersed in the challenge, competing to see who could claim ultimate Viking bragging rights.
Then there was William, who quietly stole the show at rifle shooting. Armed with laser-sharp focus and what can only be described as killer aim, he consistently hit targets with impressive accuracy. While the rest of us celebrated the occasional bullseye, William made it look effortless.
Fantastic Food and Hospitality
After all that excitement, we were more than ready to eat, and Wall Eden Farm certainly didn't disappoint.
The food was absolutely fantastic. Every meal we enjoyed was fresh, delicious and clearly prepared with care. Whether we were fuelling up before activities or relaxing afterwards, the quality of the food added another layer to what was already a wonderful experience.
The staff were equally impressive. Everyone we met was friendly, welcoming and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests had a great time. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.
Perfect for Families, Hen Dos, Stag Weekends and Corporate Events
Although we visited as a family, it was easy to see why Wall Eden Farm is such a popular destination for all kinds of groups.
With activities such as canoeing, axe throwing, archery and rifle shooting, it would make an incredible venue for hen parties and stag weekends looking for something a little different. The combination of adventure, friendly competition and beautiful surroundings creates the perfect recipe for an unforgettable celebration.
It's also easy to imagine corporate teams thriving here. The activities naturally encourage teamwork, communication and plenty of laughter, making Wall Eden Farm an ideal setting for team-building events and company retreats.
A Weekend We'll Be Talking About for Years
What makes Wall Eden Farm special isn't just the activities, the accommodation or even the incredible setting. It's the way everything comes together to create unforgettable experiences.
For our family, it was a weekend filled with adventure, laughter and quality time together. From my brief transformation into Katniss Everdeen, to Brett and George embracing their inner Vikings, William's impressive marksmanship, our repeated encounters with the riverbanks, and George's near-miss phone drama, every one of us came away with stories to tell.
Add in the comfort of Otter Bank Cabin, evenings spent relaxing in the hot tub, fantastic food and outstanding hospitality, and it's easy to see why we left already talking about our next visit.
If you're looking for a place where families can reconnect, friends can celebrate, and teams can come together, Wall Eden Farm is a destination that truly delivers.
