Brett Orchard - Former Owner and Managing Director of a Five-Station Commercial Radio Group. Broadcaster. Author. Digital Media Founder.
Brett Orchard is a British media entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in commercial radio, broadcasting, live entertainment, publishing and digital media.
Before co-founding DaysLikeThis.Life, Brett owned and operated a group of five Ofcom-licensed commercial radio stations across the South West, employing more than 40 people. Today, he brings that experience to an award-finalist family media brand that has generated more than 20 million cross-platform views in a peak month.
Brett is the co-founder and driving creative force behind much of the heart, humour and imagination of DaysLikeThis.Life, developing its programmes, books, podcasts, original characters and long-term media opportunities alongside his wife and business partner, Vikki.
More Than 30 Years in Commercial Media
Brett’s media career began long before social media existed.
His early broadcasting and promotional career included work with some of the best-known commercial radio names in the South West, including GWR, Severn Sound, Orchard FM and Wyvern FM. He worked extensively in live broadcasting, roadshows, promotions and major public events, learning how to attract an audience, hold its attention and build a genuine connection with it.
The scale was considerable. The roadshow operation included two 17-ton trucks, a 44-ton articulated unit and a promotional ice-cream vehicle, delivering large public events and high-profile commercial campaigns throughout the region.
Brett later became the owner and managing director of a five-station commercial radio group. This was not simply an on-air role: it meant taking responsibility for a substantial regulated media operation, its employees, audiences, advertisers, programming and commercial future.
That combination of creative instinct and real business responsibility continues to shape everything Brett builds today.
Building DaysLikeThis.Life
Brett and Vikki founded DaysLikeThis.Life as a modern British family media and entertainment brand built around real life, humour, travel, books, audio and original storytelling.
The brand has since achieved more than 20 million cross-platform views in a peak month and attracted audiences across the United Kingdom and around the world. Its national recognition includes finalist and shortlist success at the UK Content Creator Awards, UK Content Awards and Social Media Marketing Awards.
Popular recurring features include George’s Big Brain Fact of the Day, William’s Joke of the Day and Taste It Tuesday, alongside family adventures, travel content, books and podcasts.
What audiences see on screen may feel spontaneous and natural, but behind it sits Brett’s lifetime of experience in developing ideas, creating formats, building brands and understanding what makes people stop, watch and return.
Author and Creator of Original Story Worlds
Brett is also a published author and the creator of an expanding portfolio of original family entertainment properties.
His principal children’s series, The Six Adventures, follows six young adventurers—including George, William and Lola the Sproodle—through mysteries inspired by classic British adventure fiction and set in distinctive real-world locations.
The series includes Danger in the Spanish Sun, Six Together Again and The Legend of St Mawes, with Return to St Mawes continuing the story.
The Legend of St Mawes has developed particularly strong connections with the Cornish village that inspired it, gaining local support and retail interest while establishing a story world with potential far beyond a single book.
Brett’s wider creative projects span children’s adventures, mystery, suspense, radio storytelling and family entertainment. His ambition is not simply to publish individual titles, but to build original intellectual property capable of developing across books, audio, screen, live experiences and other forms of entertainment.

Broadcaster, Presenter and Podcast Host
Broadcasting remains central to Brett’s work.
His experience encompasses commercial radio presentation, live outside broadcasts, large-scale roadshows, voiceover work and podcasting. He currently presents Brett’s Old Time Radio Show, bringing classic radio drama, mystery and comedy to a contemporary audience.
Whether he is behind a microphone or appearing on screen, Brett’s style is conversational, warm and instinctive. His ability to communicate comes from decades of working directly with audiences rather than adopting a personality created specifically for social media.

Classic Cars, Nostalgia and Motoring
Away from broadcasting and writing, Brett is a lifelong classic-car enthusiast who has owned more than 100 vehicles.
His collection has included Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lotus and Austin-Healey models, alongside television-inspired vehicles such as a Starsky & Hutch Ford Torino, a screen-accurate KITT from Knight Rider and an A-Team van.
For Brett, these cars have never simply been status symbols. Their appeal lies in their design, character, cultural history and the stories attached to them—making motoring another natural extension of his interest in nostalgia and entertainment.

Boxing, Discipline and Resilience
Boxing has been another constant in Brett’s life. He has trained for nearly 20 years with his trainer and close friend Neil at Cobra Gym in Bristol.
He values the discipline, resilience, confidence and mental focus the sport demands. Brett also believes strongly in the positive role boxing can play in helping young people develop self-control and self-belief, while maintaining that fighting outside the gym should always be a last resort.
Family at the Heart of It
Despite a career encompassing radio ownership, broadcasting, live entertainment, publishing and digital media, Brett’s family remains at the centre of everything he does.
DaysLikeThis.Life brings those worlds together: professional media experience combined with the warmth, unpredictability and humour of real family life.
For millions of viewers, DaysLikeThis.Life may have been their introduction to Brett Orchard. Behind the family moments, however, stands an experienced media owner, broadcaster, author and entrepreneur who has spent more than three decades creating entertainment, employing people, building audiences and turning ideas into recognisable brands.
